The Best Medicine of All

I'm home! After a long thirteen hour trip from Paris to Vancouver, Mom was waiting for me at the airport. When I saw her standing at the arrivals gate with her big beautiful smile it made every second of that trip worth it. I missed her a lot!

A couple years ago when I was coming home from McGill, Mom took me to this Taiwanese soup place near the airport for a quick bite to eat. Since then we've kind of made it a tradition and we decided to go again tonight as a semi celebration for Dad's birthday (that was our excuse ;) ) and a semi celebration for our reunion. Once again the restaurant was pretty much empty so we must have looked like crazy people taking picture after picture. For those of you who don't know my mom, she LOVES to pose for pictures. So there I was with my camera and her posing away with the new earrings I bought for her in Paris while I took shot after shot until I got one she liked. We ordered a bowl of spicy beef soup and a plate of dumplings. Oh how I missed real asian food!

Whenever I land back in Vancouver, it always amazes me how beautiful this city is and I wonder to myself why I ever leave in the first place. As we were driving across the Lions Gate Bridge, the water sparkled under the moonlight and the lights of West Vancouver glittered over a solid night blue background. As we drove higher up towards our house, you could see the amount of snow on the ground increasing. Luckily the roads have been plowed so we made it home without any problems.

I just finished unpacking and organizing my stuff back to their rightful places in my room. I sorted some stuff out for tomorrow and then Mom gave me a much needed massage. My neck has been killing me for the past couple of days - I guess it's because at the moment my body is using all of its energy to fight off this stupid infection. Tomorrow afternoon is my root canal; good riddance to you infection!!!

xoxo
Alexis
