It is the first day of the new year and to start the year off right, Mark and I went for a long walk to the Eastern part of the city to Bercy Village, a quaint cobblestone street home to a few nice restaurants, some artisan shops and a cinema. The walk there took us about an hour and a half with a few pit stops to take pictures. We passed by a small zoo and watched the red pandas for a few minutes, then continued through le Jardin des Plantes - a beautiful botanical garden belonging to the National Museum of Natural History. We took the overpass over la Rivière Seine and saw a familiar face; Monsieur Canadien was hanging out in the park :) We continued to the Village, looked around a bit, then started to make our way home. It was nice to get outside and get some exercise after a late night last night. I think Mark and I both felt refreshed by the time we got home and were ready to just mark our territory on the couch and put on a flick. We watched State of Play, peeled some litchies to snack on and made some hot tea, then happily got ready for bed.

Tomorrow we have plans to go up to Montmartre and sit in on the choir. I don't want to give away too much, but it should be a great day. It's also Mark's last day off so we hope to make the most of it.
