We started the day with a homemade breakfast made from the fresh ingredients I bought this morning at the Bastille farmer's market. I went early in order to get the best selection of items. There was a plethora of fresh local produce including vibrant fruits and vegetables, a wide variety of fish and meats, fresh Italian pastas and cheeses, artisan breads and pastries, and much more. I was tempted to buy everything in sight but I stuck to what I was there for - fruits, vegetables, bread and eggs. I carried the bags home and made Mark and I a tomato feta egg-white omelet with fresh fruit salad and artisan country bread. Delicious - thanks for the culinary skills, Mom!

La Place de République |
After breakfast I decided to walk to Montmartre to attend the 4PM mass at the Sacré Coeur. I looked at the map and it looked quite far so I gave myself plenty of time. I made my way north, past la Bastille, la Place de République and two train stations, Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord, until I got to Montmartre. Turns out I got there in an hour and had an hour to spare. When I got to the Sacré Coeur, there was a Brazilian group of guys that were putting on a show for an enthusiastic audience. I took a seat and ended up watching them for the whole hour. They were amazingly acrobatic.

The bells started to chime and that marked my cue to take my seat inside the cathedral. Once again, the choir sang beautifully. I closed my eyes and listened, losing my thoughts with the feelings of relaxation and enjoyment.
After mass, I made my way home and got ready for dinner. Mark and I are meeting his friends from London for dinner tonight at l'Ardoise, a small chic Parisian joint close to the Louvre and les Tulleries. I've heard amazing things so I'm really looking forward to it. His friends are also bringing their 2 year old son who considers Mark to be like an uncle. It should be a nice dinner.
Until tomorrow,
Alexis
